Airing on May 16, TV’s “The Office” will be ending its run. Based on the UK TV show starring Ricky Gervais, the US version helped launch Steve Carell’s career as he played Michael Scott. Here’s the list of guest stars for the series finale: Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, Rachael Harris, Dakota Johnson, Joan Cusack, Ed Begley Jr., Malcolm Barrett, Matt Jones, Andy Buckley, Mike Schur and Bobby Ray Shafer. Carell’s name isn’t on the list. We’d say that NBC is trying to keep this a surprise, but you’d think they would tease a special guest appearance or something, right? But it seems hard to imagine that Carell wouldn’t be involved.

“The Office” stars Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Catherine Tate, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nuñez, Phyllis Smith, Paul Lieberstein, Creed Bratton, Craig Robinson, Ellie Kemper, Clark Duke and Jake Lacy.

This is getting confusing. “The Muppets…Again!” won’t have Amy Adams or Jason Segal involved. It does star Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and Ray Liotta (?) are in. Christoph Waltz was in, but then was replaced. Turns our Gervais revealed that Waltz will still appear in the film. That’s good news, even if it’s just a cameo, but the casting news is getting as confusing as “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”.

Well, I don’t know about big, but it’s pretty significant. Reports are that Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog will be tying the knot in “The Muppets…Again!”. Now this is where things get fishy. Technically speaking, the pair got married in “Muppets Take Manhattan”, though in “interviews” Kermit has denied this. The anticipated sequel also stars Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey.

Muppets sequel gets a title!

“The Muppets” was really one of my favorite films of 2011. It was funny, charming and Jason Segal and Amy Adams were great. They’re not returning, but Kermit, Miss Piggy and company are in the newly titled “The Muppets…Again!”

The sequel stars Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Ty Burrell and James Bobin returning to direct. Also, more good news, Flight of the Conchords’ Bret McKenzie is returning to write some of the songs. He won an Oscar for “Man or Muppet”.

“The Muppets” starring Jason Segal and Amy Adams was one of my favorite films of 2011. But for “The Muppets 2” we’re getting a new cast of humans to join Kermit, Miss Piggy and company. Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell have already signed on. And now an actor who appeared in “Muppets in Space” is coming back. Ray Liotta. Yep. So this past week Liotta has joined a children’s movie and “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum!

“The Muppets” was a big surprise for me. Starring Jason Segal, Amy Adams, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and company it was a great film. Then news came that Segal wouldn’t return and that Christoph Waltz had left the sequel. But now that Ty Burrell is on board and news that Ricky Gervais is joining makes me a whole lot more confident in the film again. Gervais is extremely funny and I think he can bring a new brand of humor as well.
