Terminator 6 filming soon?

The Terminator franchise has struggled as of late. From “Terminator Salvation” with Christian Bale and Sam Worthington to “Terminator Genisys” with Arnold and Jai Courtney, the film series has seemed to hit a rough patch as of late.

That won’t stop another film from being filmed.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said in an interview with The Playlist that the movie will begin filming next March with a “Conan” film to follow.

James Cameron is back on board the series, so hopefully this one will turn out better!

Director James Cameron’s adaptation of “Battle Angel” is still coming. Although Cameron will be busy shooting “Avatar 2” and “Avatar 3” for 2015 and 2016 releases, Cameron said he’ll begin work on “Battle Angel” in 2017. That sounds about right for his timeline. The Avatar sequels will see Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana return.

Paramount Pictures has reportedly acquired the rights to distribute “Terminator 5” (T5) and that production may begin next year. The script had numerous rewrites, the latest coming from Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is attached to star. At one point Justin Lin was attached to direct, but he dropped out to helm “Fast and Furious 6”. Maybe he can come back? It would make sense as to why he didn’t want to do FF 7. “Terminator Salvation” the last Terminator film to be released, starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington.

After being introduced so spectacularly to the world in “Terminator: Salvation”, “Avatar” and “Clash of the Titans”, Sam Worthington has continued to mix high budget films with low budget films. He’s done films like “Texas Killing Fields” and “Man on a Ledge”. Now he’s headed to the Civil War as he joins the film “The Keeping Room” from Daniel Barber (“Harry Brown”). Worthington will play a soldier who discovers a group of women left to fend for themselves. The film also stars Brit Marling Hailee Steinfeld and Nicole Beharie.

Brad Pitt headed back to WWII

Brad Pitt’s work in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” was amazing. Now he’s headed back to WWII, but in a much more serious tone with “Fury”. The film will center around an American tank crew who operates a tank called Fury during the final days of the war. David Ayer is directing. He helmed last year’s “End of Watch” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena. He’s also helming next year’s “Ten”, starring  Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Worthington. We’ll see how this turns out. I wasn’t in love with “End of Watch” as much as a lot of people were. But it was a solid film.

Bleeding Cool is reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he will be back for “Terminator 5”. “The Last Stand” was supposed to be Schwarzenegger’s big return to leading man status, but that film tanked very badly. Perhaps this will help. He was not pleased with “Terminator Salvation”, which starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, but no word on the plot for the fifth film or how he’ll fit in it. Right now, there’s no director either as Justin Lin left the project to focus on the “Fast and Furious” sequels.

So, we’re going to get more Conan and Terminator from Schwarzenegger. I suppose that’s a good thing.

“Terminator Salvation”, which starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington disappointed a lot of fans. But a new “Terminator” film is moving forward and it now has screenwriters…one should get you excited and one should have you worried. Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis are penning the script. The good news is the latter did work on “Shutter Island”. The bad news is the former did work on “Drive Angry” and “My Bloody Valentine 3D”.

Jennifer Lawrence has had quite a good few years. From her role in “X-Men: First Class” to “The Hunger Games”, Lawrence seems to be on her way to establishing herself as a big name actress. Much like Sam Worthington, her introduction to audiences has been through blockbusters, including one mega hit. But, this is where she appears to be on her way. Her role in “Silver Linings Playbook”, from David Russell (“The Fighter”) looks to take her to the next level. This film has huge amounts of Oscar buzz behind it. And, much of the praise is going to Lawrence’s performance. This type of critically acclaimed performance is showing not only can she carry a franchise, she’s got a heap load of talent. That means she’ll have longevity and we’ll see her possibly pushing the edge, finding new and different roles. Think Brad Pitt. Think Leonardo DiCaprio. “SLP” is proving Lawrence has that kind of potential. From the looks of this film, Lawrence is showing the world not only can she act in effects driven films, she can hold our attention through almost any film.

Of course, much is dependent on the roles she chooses. Anna Kendrick is an also very talented actress who seems to choose roles that, frankly, are beneath her and don’t take advantage of her talent. But, Lawrence’s short career so far shows no signs of that and she is looking like she’s becoming one of today’s finest actresses.

With news that “Avatar 2 and 3” will shoot back-to-back, there has been some skepticism. In a recent interview with the L.A. Times, James Cameron had this to say about the films, which will likely star Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana again.

“It’s a little bit of a daunting writing task because it’s two scripts and they’ve both gotta be done at the same time. I’m writing it as separate stories that have an overall arc inclusive of the first film. I don’t want to suffer from the ‘Matrix 2′ problem, where it just ends, like, what the hell? It’s gotta end. There’s gotta be a sense of conclusion, but also a sense that the journey will continue, and that’s a fine line.”

I actually liked “The Matrix: Reloaded” and “The Matrix: Revolutions”. But, I mean, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” did the same thing. Anyways, we’ll see if Cameron can avoid this pitfall.

Here’s the trailer for “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.

The film was delayed until January, where it will face off directly against “Gangster Squad” starring Ryan Gosling. So, looks like we get Gosling vs. Renner.

As far as Renner, this will be the fourth film intended to kick off franchises. From “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” to “The Avengers” to “The Bourne Legacy” and now this, he appears to be having a Sam Worthington type stretch.
