Take this one with a grain of salt because Dan Akroyd has been trying to get “Ghostbusters 3” off of the ground for a while now. But in a recent interview, he said that “Ghostbusters 3″ will receive half of the script very soon, begin production this fall and begin filming in early 2014.

“It’s very exciting,” Akroyd told ABC News. “The Higgs Boson and the particle theories, gluons and mesons, that really gives us a scientific base in terms of our fictional storytelling, to open up to another dimension and have something horrible coming through.”

Ivan Reitman is said to be returning to direct. The big question is if they can convince Bill Murray to return.

Frank Langella (“Frost/Nixon”) has joined the cast of Draft Day as a fictional owner of the Cleveland Browns. The film also stars Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Timothy Simons and Denis Leary. Football comedies are a tough sell (George Clooney’s “Leatherheads”) comes to mind, but this one from Ivan Reitman has a great cast. The story will follow the Browns as they try and decide what to do with the No. one pick in the NFL Draft.

So, here we go again. Bill Murray still has no plans to return, but according to Paramount, “Ghostbusters 3” is filming next summer. Director Ivan Reitman is returning and Dan Aykroyd has been saying the script is finished, which means this film could be released on the 30th anniversary of the first film.

Because of the filming schedule, Reitman’s football drama starring Kevin Costner has been put on indefinite hold.

With recent news that director Ivan Reitman said he may just reboot “Ghostbusters” instead of making “Ghostbusters III” with Bill Murray and company it would seem the sequel that never seems to die may be on its last breath. But, there’s another sequel that seems to always come up. “Dumb and Dumber” was a hit comedy. “Dumb and Dumberer” had nothing to do with any of the original crew. The Farrelly brothers continue to work on a script “Dumb and Dumber To” (No, I didn’t mess up the title). Problem is Jim Carrey had said he was going to pass on the project. Turns out, Jeff Daniels said Carrey may be interested in returning after all and the Farrelly brothers said their script is focusing on the two main characters.

I’m not sure making sequels to either of these films are a good idea. But, if I had to chose one, I’d say I’d rather see “Ghostbusters III”. “Dumb and Dumber” was great, but come on guys. The Farrelly brothers look like they’re running out of steam, especially after their last film “The Three Stooges” failed to light up the box office.

We keep hearing updates from the likes of Bill Murray and company, but now director Ivan Reitman has given updates about “Ghostbusters III” and a proposed “Twins” sequel, “Triplets”. For the former, Reitman said that the film should be “remade” though it’s unclear if he meant the sequel is simply starting from scratch or literally remaking the series. And, as far as “Triplets”, Reitman said it was a “press release more than anything else”.

So there you have it, Reitman shooting down sequels to two of his biggest films. It’s hard to imagine we’ll ever see a “Ghostbusters III”, we’ve been hearing rumors and reports for so long now.

In the project that seems to be either heading toward production or failing miserably depending on the month, Dan Aykroyd gave an update about “Ghostbusters 3” saying that the studio is on board and a new writer has been hired to go with a good concept. Aykroyd also said that Bill Murray is not doing the film and that the third film will be passing the torch to a new generation of ghostbusters. Ivan Reitman is reportedly returning to direct

So, what do you think? No Murray for “Ghostbusters 3”, can the film work without him?

Director Ivan Reitman (“Ghostbusters”) will helm the football comedy “Draft Day” which sees the general manager of the Buffalo Bills go to great lengths to ensure his number one pick signs. Reitman most recently directed “No Strings Attached”.

Back in 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito did a film called “Twins”. Successful? Yes. Now, Ivan Reitman, who directed that film, will produce and the two are set to appear in “Triplets”. Yes, a third brother is joining them. And it will be none other than Eddie Murphy.

Eddie, if for some reason you’re reading this, I’m not sure the best way to revive your career is to appear in an unnecessary sequel with two aging stars.
