Multiple media outlets are reporting that Peyton Manning wants to go into negotiations with the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are reportedly going to try and trade Tim Tebow.

I think Manning is making a mistake here. I think San Francisco would have been a much  better fit. The Niners are already close to being a Super Bowl team. Put Manning on that roster with Wayne, Frank Gore and that defense? I shudder to think how good they could be. Thankfully, Manning’s going to the Broncos. Denver’s a lot farther off from being a Super Bowl team than San Fran. Can you even name any of their receivers?

The NFL announced it is suspending three Denver Broncos, linebacker D.J. Williams, defensive end Ryan McBean and tight end Virgil Green for violating substance abuse policies. Williams and McBean were suspended for six games while Green was suspended for four.

Sad news for the former Wolf Pack tight end. But, he should know better.

What an offseason it’s been for former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. He was supposed to be the unquestioned starter for the Denver Broncos. Then, the team didn’t trade Kyle Orton. Now, Tebow spent much of the Broncos’ last preseason game watching. Sports Illustrated is now reporting that Denver wouldn’t be opposed to a trade for Tebow, but interest is dwindling fast. That means the team will likely either keep or cut Tebow.

I can hardly believe this. Tebow went from sure-fire starter to backup to now maybe not even third string. I doubt Orton can lead the team any better than Tebow can. Orton surely isn’t the long-term answer, so why not give Tebow a shot? Unfortunately for Tebow, it looks like he won’t get that chance, at least not in Denver.

Former Nevada tight end Virgil Green signed a four-year $2.16 million contract with the Denver Broncos. Green is the first of the three Wolf Pack players taken 2011 NFL Draft to sign his rookie deal. Green was taken in the seventh round. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick (San Francisco) and Dontay Moch (Cincinnati) have yet to sign their deals.

Former Nevada players Colin Kaepernick (San Francisco 49ers), Virgil Green (Denver Broncos) and Dontay Moch (Cincinnati Bengals) were all taken in the 2011 NFL Draft. Now, with the NFL lockout apparently nearing an end, the question becomes which player will find the most success in the NFL?

Colin Kaepernick

Kaepernick has the most to gain and lose this season. He will be in a battle for the starting job with quarterback Alex Smith and others. Now, the question remains, because of the lockout, or just because they don’t want to rush him, will the 49ers sit Kaepernick a season? Also, there’s always a question of how Kaepernick will adjust to the speed of the NFL game. People have been high on Kaepernick’s game recently, but it wasn’t so long ago that they looked at him as a flawed prospect. Still, his strong arm and quick legs could make him a strong asset and San Francisco’s offense has been average at best the past few seasons.

Virgil Green

The tight end will have an opportunity to shine the Broncos’ offense. He could be a starter and, could be a solid blocker and a great target in the red zone. Despite having surgery that saw his stock fall to the seventh round, Green has the hands and size to make him a dangerous weapon on offense.

Dontay Moch

Moch is a more developmental project, but he will see action as a third-down guy and on special teams. However, with Moch’s speed and strength, he can develop into one of the better outside linebackers in the league. The question is can he shine in a Bengals team that has largely underperformed for a long time? It will be interesting to see his progress and how much of an impact he has his rookie season. But, though he might be limited this season, Moch is one to watch down the road.
