With the limited access to computers I’ll be having over this week and next this will be an abbreviated version of the Box office battle.

This week, four films hit theaters. Will any break out?

“Turbo” features the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Snoop Dogg and more. And it’s premise about a racing slug has the possibility of attracting the same kind of crowd that Pixar’s “Cars” brought in. But, it’s being released after “Monsters University” and “Despicable Me 2” and with the much more anticipated (ugh) “The Smurfs 2” still to come, one has to wonder if this will be the odd animated film left out. Still, it still should do better than say “Rise of the Guardians” but probably not by much.

Opening weekend: $30-35 million

James Wan is back with “The Conjuring”. The director of “Saw” and “Insidious” has Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga starring in this film, which is gaining a ton of buzz about how scary it is. It’s not opening in as many theaters as the other films, but this one could make a strong play for first place.

Opening weekend: $28-33 million

“RED 2” stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee, Brian Cox and Neal McDonough. But the star power won’t help this film. The first film opened to $21 million on its way to $90 million domestically and nearly $200 million worldwide. I doubt it matches those numbers domestically as many view it as an unnecessary sequel to an OK first film, though it should open around the same level.

Opening weekend: $20-25 million

Finally we have “R.I.P.D.” The presence of Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds won’t help this film escape its “Men in Black” knockoff feel and, frankly, it looks like this summer’s “Jonah Hex”. Never a good thing.

Opening weekend: $10-15 million

Trailer for “Oldboy”!

Here’s the trailer for “Oldboy”!

From director Spike Lee, the remake stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, James Ransone and Samuel L. Jackson.

“Unbreakable 2” coming?

I loved “Unbreakable” but at this point I rather the sequel not get made. Still, while promoting “After Earth”, M. Night Shyamalan won’t let these rumors die. He told MTV that the sequel is on his “agenda”: “As long as it can be connected to something that I’m feeling right now, then I’ll work for me, it’ll be valid and I’ll enjoy it,” he says. “If it feels like a mechanical thing where I’m doing it because it’ll be profitable or successful, then that’d just be so hollow.”

After “The Village”, “Lady in the Water”, “The Happening”, heck even “Devil” I really hope he doesn’t do this. In a post Marvel explosion world, I’d hate to see him try and make “Unbreakable 2” now, even if Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis are willing to give it another go.

“Oldboy” delayed

“Oldboy”, from director Spike Lee is getting delayed. Don’t worry though not because of any big worries (we hope). It’s being pushed back two weeks to October 25. The  remake stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, James Ransone and Samuel L. Jackson. Frankly, I have my doubts about this film and I probably have more faith in the new “Carrie”, though I don’t think either are going to be anything amazing.

So far we’ve had “Olympus Has Fallen” with Gerard Butler. This summer will have “White House Down” with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx. Get ready for “Big Game” where Samuel L. Jackson who will play the President, who comes under attack. In it, Air Force One gets shot down. Jackson falls into the woods and is found by a 13-year-old boy who will try and escape with him while being hunted by the baddies. Jalmari Helander is making his English language directorial debut. Jackson is filming scenes for “Captain America: Winter Soldier” and will appear in Spike Lee’s “Oldboy” remake.

Robert Redford joining Marvel?

Yep. Reports are that Robert Redford is in talks to join “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. This seems a bit out of left field, but I hope he plays an interesting role. The anticipated sequel hits theaters next year, so we’ll have to wait a while. The film stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell and Maximiliano Hernánde so this is getting a little crowded. Joe and Anthony Russo are directing.

Tarzan finds its Jane?

Director David Yates’ “Tarzan” has been light on news. Rumors had Alexander Skarsgard (“Battleship”, “True Blood”) as Tarzan and Samuel L. Jackson as a Civil War vet, but that hasn’t been confirmed. Now reports are that Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”, “The Help”) is up for the role of Jane. Stephen Sommers and Stuart Beattie are writing the script based on the novel “Tarzan of the Apes”.

Sommers’ involvement makes me worried, but if this cast pans out, I’d be up for giving this a chance.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” quietly could be one of my favorite superhero films. Which would be saying something since “Captain America” was probably my least favorite Marvel film to date. But with a cast that includes Chris Evans, Emil VanCamp, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson and Toby Jones, this one could be great if it’s handled correctly. Producer Kevin Feige recently talked about the comic book film genre and described this film as a political thriller. This worries me a tad bit. I’m not wanting to see the next “Manchurian Candidate” here. Frankly, Marvel’s films work as well as they do because they don’t take themselves too seriously.

Good news bad news here for me at least. Peggy Carter will cameo in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. Played by Hayley Atwell in the first film, she was the love interest to Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Emily VanCamp is playing the lead in this film, but it’s still nice to see. The bad news is that Peggy’s role is apparently just a flashback scene. I still think it would be incredibly emotional and sad to see a much older Peggy reuniting with Steve. Perhaps for that one dance before she passed away?

The film also stars Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson and Toby Jones.
