Captain Phasma was one of the characters people were looking forward to most in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” only to be disappointed by the amount of screen time she had on screen.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will rectify that. Director Rian Johnson said in an interview:

“Gwendoline Christie is one of my favorite people, and you get to see her in action which I think is going to be really fun. That character is just so damn cool looking. Like, okay, let’s see what we can do with her. Let’s put her in action and see what happens.”

The anticipated sequel starring Daisey Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Mark Hamill and Carrie Fischer hits theaters Dec. 15.

There will be no “Star Wars” news or panel of any kind from Comic-Con. Disney did confirm, however, that “Star Wars Episode VII” will have a “presence” at D23, which happens Aug. 9-11. People are expecting casting announcements, including the much rumored return of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. No concrete details have been released but the J.J. Abrams directed film will begin production in early 2014 so news has to come soon.

Here’s what we know about Disney’s plans for “Star Wars”. “Star Wars Episode VII” is going to be directed by J.J. Abrams and come out in 2015. Original cast members Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are rumored to be coming back. Thankfully George Lucas won’t be too involved. Now comes some new news. Episode VII will hit theaters in the summer of 2015. After that, expect a Star Wars film EVERY summer, with films alternating between the new trilogy and the stand alone films. This seems a bit excessive to me, but I guess Disney’s trying to really shove their new found property down our throats. A while back there was a rumor that Zack Snyder may direct one of them. That has been shot down, but I’d still like to see him get a crack at it.

Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) said she was coming back, so this isn’t a huge surprise. But oh George Lucas. In an interview with Business Week, Lucas let it slip that Fisher, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) are almost 100 percent certainly coming back for “Star Wars Episode VII”. The article by Business Week is a fascinating read. Some of the details it goes into is how difficult it was for Lucas to hand over the reins to Lucasfilm and more. You can read that article here. Somehow, I’m guessing Kathleen Kennedy is going to get Lucas to stop spilling the beans in the near future. J.J. Abrams is notoriously secretive, (Just look at “Star Trek Into Darkness”) and I doubt Disney wants that to change. Michael Arndt (“Toy Story 3”) is penning the script. As of now, the film is shooting for a 2015 release date.

Since it was announced J.J. Abrams would helm “Star Wars Episode VII”, we’ve had lots of rumors. Harrison Ford would be back. They’d do a young Han Solo film. They’d do a Yoda film. Mark Hamill would be back. Well, we finally have some solid news. In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Carrie Fisher was asked if she’d be back as Princes Leia. Her answer? “Yes.”

We have our first seemingly official confirmation .I would guess that Han Solo and Luke Skywalker wouldn’t be far behind now.

BIG potential Star Wars news

This could be huge. J.J. Abrams is directing “Star Wars Episode VII”. Since then we’ve had rumors of a Han Solo film, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher returning and more. Here’s this for casting news. The site MarketSaw is reporting Simon Pegg will be in the new trilogy. Pegg of course is in “Star Trek Into Darkness”. Here’s the bigger news. The site said Alfonso Cuaron, who directed one of my favorite films of all time, “Children of Men” may be up for Episodes VIII and IX. All I can say is…heck yes.

Rumors that Harrison Ford would be back as Han Solo have been swirling. So have rumors about everything from Yoda to a young Han Solo. Now Mark Hamill talked with Entertainment Tonight about the J.J. Abrams directed film. And it looks like he knows more than he’s letting on.

“They’re talking to us,” Hamill said. “George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we’d be interested. He did say that if we didn’t want to do it, they wouldn’t cast another actor in our parts – they would write us out. … I can tell you right away that we haven’t signed any contracts. We’re in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm.”

Here’s some more quotes:

“I’m assuming, because I haven’t talked to the writers, that these movies would be about our offspring — like my character would be sort of in the Obi-Wan range [as] an influential character. … When I found out [while making the original trilogy] that ultimate good news/bad news joke – the good news is there’s a real attractive, hot girl in the universe; the bad news is she’s your sister – I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to wind up like Sir Alec [Guinness]. I’m going to be a lonely old hermit living out in some kind of desert igloo with a couple of robots.'”

“Another thing I’d want to make sure of is are we going to have the whole gang back? Is Carrie and Harrison and Billy Dee and Tony Daniels, everybody that’s around from the original [returning]? I want to make sure that everybody’s on board here, rather than just one.”

“I said to George that I wanted to go back to the way it was, in the sense that ours was much more carefree and lighthearted and humorous – in my opinion, anyway….hope they find the right balance of CGI with practical effects. I love props, I love models, miniatures, matte paintings — I’m sort of old school. I think if you go too far in the direction of CGI it winds up looking like just a giant a video game, and that’s unfortunate. … If they listen to me at all, it’ll be, ‘Lighten up and go retro with the way it looks.'”

So it looks like Hamill is keeping some things from us! But seems like he, Carrie Fisher and Ford will be back and perhaps a lot of other characters from the original trilogy.

Last fall, rumors were that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford would return, so this may not be a huge shock. But rumors are that J.J. Abrams signed Harrison Ford to return as Han Solo for “Star Wars Episode VII”! Nothing has been confirmed, but this makes sense.

So that was a bit of a tease. No, no director has been named. And no, I ‘m not talking about a return from Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Leia) or Mark Hamill (Luke). Drew Struzan, who made the posters for the other Star Wars films, has been approached by Disney to draw the poster for “Star Wars Episode VII”.

Other than that, the only thing we know for sure is that Michael Arndt is writing the script.

This is from a British Tabloid, so take this for what it’s worth. But, reports are surfacing that Darth Vader is being resurrected to play a “significant role” in Star Wars Episode VII. Rumors have been flying that everyone from Luke (Mark Hamill) to Leia (Carrie Fisher) to Han Solo (Harrison Ford) are coming back, so there’s no way to know if this is true or not at this point. But, let me just say this. Vader is probably the most marketable character from the series. And, let’s not forget Darth Maul got cut in half only to see a return in the Clone Wars series.
