“Beauty and the Beast” was always going to open big. How much did it make?

Estimates place the remake of the Disney classic earning $170 million. That would be enough to top the $166 million earned by “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” for a new March record and is the seventh-biggest opening weekend ever.

“Beauty and the Beast” stars Emma Watson, Luke Evans and Josh Gad.

“Kong: Skull Island” dropped to second, earning $28.9 million. That’s a decent hold for the monster film, while “Logan” took third with $17.5 million.

Who is the Silver Samurai?

Here’s a short video profiling Harada (The Silver Samurai) from the upcoming “The Wolverine”.

The film stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee. James Mangold (“Walk the Line”) is directing.

Hoping we all forget “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, this summer’s “The Wolverine looks pretty good. Director James Mangold (“Walk the Line”) I hope found the right tone. Here’s some new footage shown at some recent Cons!

Here’s the trailer for “The Wolverine”!

After the disappointment of Gavin Hood’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, this film looks a lot better and pretty epic. It stars Hugh Jackman of course as Logan with James Mangold (“Walk the Line”) taking over directing duties. And there’s no Ryan Reynolds, so that’s a good start.

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” was a modest box office success but critical bomb. Still, Fox has pushed forward with a sequel, deciding not to reboot it (Are you paying attention Warner Brothers for “Green Lantern”?) and move forward with a sequel “The Wolverine”. Obviously, Hugh Jackman is back. It’s based on the celebrated comic arc set in Japan which, according to comingsoon.net: finds the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel clashes with adamantium claws as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

Chris Claremont and Frank Miller (“Sin City”, “300”) are responsible for the comics. The film has now cast Will Yun Lee to play Kenuichio Harada, who becomes the Silver Samurai. Brian Tee will play Noburo Mori, a corrupt minister of justice who is slated to marry Mariko Yashida, the daughter of a Yakuza crime lord who falls for Logan when he comes to Japan. James Mangold (“Walk The Line”) is directing.

It sounds like this sequel is going to be much better. Mangold is a great director and is an interesting choice except…thats what I said about Gavin Hood too.
