Here is the latest trailer for “Justice League”.

The film brings together Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), the Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

Probably not a big surprise. Frank Miller helped Zack Snyder on “300”, but news comes that Miller and Snyder are meeting to discuss the upcoming Batman and Superman film. Word is that it is a sequel to “Man of Steel” and that Bruce Wayne/Batman will be a supporting player to Clark Kent. Henry Cavill is returning as is Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, so that makes sense. Just one pesky question remains…just who will play Batman?

Bale shoots down rumors

Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” started up talk about a “Justice League” film. If it does happen, Christian Bale, who played Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy said he won’t be back.

”I have no information, no knowledge about anything,” he told EW.  “I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it. It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

They could go with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, however.

This seems a bit quick, but “Fast and Furious 6” directed by Justin Lin is seeing its sequel, “Fast and Furious 7” from James Wan being released next year. Reports are that Warner Brothers wants a “Man of Steel” sequel, which has earned $125.1 million already, to come out in 2014 with a “Justice League” film to follow in 2015. It makes a little bit of sense because WB has slated a 2015 release for a JLA film for a while now. But that’s not much time for Zack Snyder and writer David Goyer to prep a script and get everything done in time.

Empire Magazine is reporting that “Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder will be offered the director’s job for WB’s “Justice League” film, which is still planned for a 2015 release. The only catch? That the offer is contingent upon how well “Man of Steel” does this summer. It makes sense. Christopher Nolan said no to the JL film so Snyder would be the obvious next choice. If the latest trailer is any indication, Snyder shouldn’t have too much to worry about, although “Superman Returns” failed to find a big audience.

Yep. WB President Jeff Robinov closed the door on rumors that Christopher Nolan (“Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”, “The Dark Knight Rises”) and Christian Bale may be involved with a “Justice League of America” film. “Man of Steel” producer Chris Roven, however, said “Man of Steel” from director Zack Snyder is setting a universe up a la Marvel Studios:

“It’s setting the tone for what the movies are going to be like going forward, In that, Man of Steel is definitely a first step. Nolan’s Dark Knight series was deliberately and smartly positioned as a stand-alone. The world the films lived in was very isolated, without any knowledge of other superheroes. What Zack and Chris have done with this film is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world.”

At this point it’s clear: Warner Brothers has no idea what the heck they’re doing. Last month there were reports that maybe, just maybe, Christopher Nolan would return for the “Justice League of America” film and Christian Bale would be back as Batman. But now reports are that Nolan is not returning because he doesn’t want to mess with the universe that his Batman films (“Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”, “The Dark Knight Rises”) created. And reports are out there that Nolan is even hesitant that “Man of Steel” Superman Henry Cavill should appear either. Also, Bale is backing out. And WB is doing a page one rewrite. Yeah. We’re never seeing this film are we?

Since ending his Batman trilogy with “The Dark Knight Rises”, Christopher Nolan has been a busy guy. he served as producer on Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. There’s those pesky rumors that he will oversee the “Justice League” film. But get ready for his first original film since “Inception” on Nov. 7, 2014. Nolan’s next film will be “Interstellar”. Not much is known about the project, but don’t be surprised to see recent frequent Nolan actors in the mix. I’d bet on Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, maybe even Christian Bale showing up for this one.

News about the “Justice League of America” film has been…sparse. There was news that Ben Affleck was going to direct (he’s not), then it was perhaps the Wachowskis (as far as we know, they’re not). Then there was a script, but Warner Brothers decided to do a page one rewrite. Casting rumors have been just as confusing. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in as Batman, then he wasn’t. They were going to keep Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern…but then maybe not. It’s clear WB has no idea what they are doing. That could be changing. Rumors are out there that Christopher Nolan is taking on the overseer as WB’s DC properties. He’s already producing Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”, so this makes sense.

That’s not all though. Rumors are also out there that Christian Bale is returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film. But that may not be for a “Justice League” film. It might be a team up film with Henry Cavill (Superman). If you’re asking how this would make any sense what-so-ever given the mythology created by Nolan in “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises”, I’m just as confused as you.

No Batman for seven years?

Oh Warner Brothers. You’re no Marvel that’s for sure. The one thing we do know is Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” hits theaters this year with Henry Cavill. WB wants a “Justice League of America” film but is waiting to see how that film does. And even if Superman does well, WB is rewriting the ENTIRE script. Oh then there’s the issue of Batman. No it’s not Christian Bale anymore and reports are that a JLA film would introduce a new Dark Knight instead of brining back Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Now, Batman on Film is reporting that a source is saying if Superman is successful, a solo Batman film may not come until AFTER the Superman trilogy. Ugh.
