Well, not really. But Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has taken over the box office world. You think I’m kidding? EW pointed this out: Take a look at the last 16 weeks. There has been a movie starring Johnson in the top 10 every week since Feb. 22. It started with “Snitch” and most recently continued with “Fast and Furious 6”, which co-stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Luke Evans and more:

Feb. 22-24 – Snitch (No. 2)
Mar. 1-3 – Snitch (No. 4)
Mar. 8-10 – Snitch (No. 5)
Mar. 15-17 – Snitch (No. 6)
Mar. 22-24 – Snitch (No. 10)
Mar. 29-31 – G.I. Joe: Retaliation (No. 1)
Apr. 5-7 – G.I. Joe: Retaliation (No. 2)
Apr. 12-14 – G.I. Joe: Retaliation (No. 4)
Apr. 19-21 – G.I. Joe: Retaliation (No. 5)
Apr. 26-28 – Pain & Gain (No. 1), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (No. 6)
May 3-5 – Pain & Gain (No. 2)
May 10-12 – Pain & Gain (No. 3)
May 17-19 – Pain & Gain (No. 4)
May 24-26 – Fast & Furious 6 (No. 1)
June 1-3 – Fast & Furious 6 (No. 1)
June 7-9 – Fast & Furious 6 (No. 2)

His last three movies have reached No. one at the box office for its opening weekend and combined, his 2013 movies have earned $956 million. And I thought Channing Tatum had a good 2012. This puts that to shame. Also, Johnson hosts the TNT show “The Hero”.

Director Zack Snyder (“300”, “Watchmen”) said in a recent interview with EW that Kryptonite will not be in “Man of Steel”. Frankly, I’m glad. It’s always used as a convenient tool against Superman, it’ll be nice to see him face challenges different from that. The anticipated film stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Michael Shannon as General Zod. The film also will feature Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner.

Ridley Scott is already returning to a classic series with this year’s “Prometheus” which returns Scott to the “Aliens” franchise. But, there’s already a lot of buzz about Scott’s involvement with another “Blade Runner” film. The sci-fi classic starred Harrison Ford. However, don’t expect anything soon.

In an interview with EW, Scott said though he’s met with writers, the film is not even a script yet. And, they don’t know whether it will be a prequel or sequel to the original. And, it’s unclear whether Ford would return, though Scott did say his return may not be necessary to the story.

Do you want to see another “Blade Runner” film?

I’m not sure I do. “Prometheus” does look good, don’t get me wrong. But, let’s wait for the actual film to come out before we champion Scott as a genius once again. And “Blade Runner” seems like even more hallowed ground in terms of material to try and come back to.
