The American version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” was a solid film, earning about $230 million worldwide. That was a hit, but not a gigantic hit. At the same time, Sony wanted to go forward with a sequel. Director David Fincher said he’d like to come back as did stars Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. So why haven’t we heard news?

Looks like you can blame Craig. The Hollywood Reporter said that Craig wants a pay raise, largely because of “Skyfall” recently earning more than $1 billion worldwide. That being said, Sony saw the lukewarm box office of TGWTDT and for “The Girl Who Played With Fire”, they want to reduce costs, not increase it. THR also reports that Craig’s character could be written out of the sequel, which would be a little awkward since he plays a very big role in the second book. But, we’ll have to see how this plays out!
