“Star Trek: Into Darkness”, in true J.J. Abrams fashion, has a lot of mystery surrounding it. But the prequel comics, which will bridge the gap from the first film to the second film, may be revealing some big spoilers.

Movies.com’s John Gholson has an analysis of the first issue, which you can read here.

In it, Gholson said on the last panel, we see Robert April, the original captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise on an alien planet while allowing the alien species access to Starfleet technology. There was a report from Drew McWeeny who saw some information that made him advance a theory that Benedict Cumberbatch is indeed playing April. You can read that here.

The theory seems a bit out there, since April is really on the fringe of Star Trek canon. But you never know. Once you read Drew’s article, some of the bits from the trailer starts to make sense. Of course, so do the Gary Mitchell and Khan theories.

Anyways, what do you guys think? “Star Trek: Into Darkness” also stars Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto and more.
