“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, from director Gavin Hood, frankly, sucked. It sucked for a lot of reasons, probably one of the least of which was that it really didn’t fit in to the cinematic X-Men timeline. Even “X-Men: First Class”, though it was pretty good, still kind doesn’t of’ fit in. For James Mangold’s (“Walk the Line) “The Wolverine”, which sees Hugh Jackman return as Logan will happen after “X-Men: Last Stand”.

“Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all,” Mangold told Empire. “Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him.”

Interesting. So, basically a pseudo-sequel. And, it opens the doors for appearances from Halle Berry and the like. Also kind of interesting since well, at the end of X3 they reopened the school so…did they go on strike or something?
